Collaboration with the Tsinghua University

The Executive MBA of the Executive School of Management, Technology and Law at the University of St.Gallen has signed an agreement with the Tsinghua University, School of Economics and Management to form a long-term partnership to deliver international exchange modules in China and Switzerland.

The Tsinghua University, School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM) is one of the top business schools in Asia and is also exemplified by its world-class Advisory Board leaders, such as Jack Ma (Executive Chairman, Alibaba Group), Lou Jiwei (Minister, Ministry of Finance, People’s Republic of China), and Mark Zuckerberg (Founder, Chairman and CEO, Facebook Inc.) and Tim Cook (CEO, Apple) and Qiu Yong (President, Tsinghua University).

Prof. Dr. Winfried Ruigrok (Dean of the Executive School of Management, Technology & Law at the University of St.Gallen), states, This collaboration is an important milestone for the Executive School of Management, Technology & Law of the University of St.Gallen in ensuring the internationalization of our programs, and creating opportunities for our students to learn about China and its market from local faculty.

The collaboration was strategically built by Prof. Dr. Karolin Frankenberger (Academic Director Executive MBA, University of St.Gallen) and Prof.Dr. Yubo Chen (Associate Dean, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University).

In May 2019, the International EMBA students (Cohort 6) from the University of St.Gallen will spend several days at the Tsinghua University in China. They will receive lectures from renowned Tsinghua professors on topics such as digital transformation in China and pay visits to successful multinational companies. In exchange, the Tsinghua students will also benefit from receiving lectures from our exceptional faculty members and learning from various companies in Switzerland.

As Prof. Dr. Karolin Frankenberger explains, “The Chinese market has become a very important market, featuring some of the world’s most valuable companies, such as Alibaba and Tencent. Therefore, it is vital that our Executive MBA students acquire an understanding of the Chinese market and learn how to do business in China during their studies. With the Tsinghua University as a partner, we will be able to access to the most prominent university and business school in China. I am very much looking forward to having the first module, ‘Doing Business in China’, at the Tsinghua University next May 2019.”

The module will provide a combination of academic sessions, company visits, networking events, as well as experiential sessions, for students to gain insights into business development strategies in China and Switzerland.

The alliance will further strengthen the first-class reputation of the Executive MBA Program at the University of St.Gallen.
